Thank you Good Friends, Junko-san and Kusacchi for caring for Toby this summer while we visited our family and friends in America! Thank you also to Hiroko-san, the coolest gal, who came through and helped in a big way, and also to Ane-san, Junko-san's wise sister. Everyone was so very kind and took such good care of Toby during our July adventure. And of course there's Indy, the Jack Russell Terrier, and Toby's best friend.
Junko-san wrote a diary for Toby every day. And get this, she wrote it in English! I was so surprised, because usually we speak Japanese together. I didn't realize her English was so good. But that's not all. This lady is so artistically creative. Her wimsically simple drawings convey so much expression. It's really quite amazing. I took photos of a few of the pages so you can see what I mean. Have a look HERE. It was really fun for me to read the entries and study the drawings. It is clear that Toby had a great summer with Indy's family.
While we were in the US, Jonah often brought up the fact that Toby would be turning ONE in August, and he planned to have a birthday party for him. Jonah carefully shopped for a birthday present for Toby, some yummy dog treats, and then got Monica to help him make a shirt and cake for him. So, on the big day, we sang Happy Birthday and helped him make a wish and blow out his candle. Hiroko-san and Daniel celebrated with us.
This posting is very late...I have excuses that start with jet-lag and move on to very busy doing a long list of stuff both interesting and tedious. Besides teaching English and studying Japanese, skating and caring for the family and the dog, I'm getting the child
ren organized to start the new school year smoothly next week. After that, I should be able to concentrate again. I'm looking forward to starting to learn my new Creative Suite software, with the initial goal of renovating my FrontPage created website into Dreamweaver. As well as taking advantage of what time we have left here doing Language Exchange (LE) with my Japanese friends, doing Japanese cooking lessons with Ayumi-san, Ikebana (flower arranging) and improving my Yoga practice.
Toby's diary is the best thing I have ever seen! (check out my blog, I just started it.. http://lation.org/ally
