Climbing Asahi Peak

先週の木曜日はアメリカの感謝祭だたので、子供の学校は４日休みでした。そして、最近、いつものように、主人の仕事と出張はとてもいそがしかったです。そうすると、家族の旅行を作りました。静岡の寸又峡に行きました。その旅行は何かのための皆です。１）皆は電車を乗っているは楽しいですと思います。家からホテルまで地下鉄と新幹線とSLとJRとバスを乗りました。２）ハイキングもとても面白いです。よくハイキングをできました。３）静岡の木の色の旬ですから、主人の趣味、写真を撮るをできます。４）和食は私の一番好きです。５）もちろん皆は温泉を大好きです。全部は計画のようになりました。良かったです。

このはハイキングの物語です。朝日岳は高くて、険しいです。地勢は歩きにくいです。天気は寒くて曇ったです。時々霧時々細雨だた、時々雨が降った。でも、家族はがんばりました。　マティんから、レインコートを持って行っておきました。いい考えだよ。山の上に間熊の近く来ました。見なかったが、聞きました。頂上に上っているは３時間かかりました。下に下りているは２．５時間かかりました。体は痛む筋肉になったので、温泉に入って、気持ち良いなぁ。

Last week was the American holiday, Thanksgiving, and the kids had four days off school. And, as usual, since Martin has been working so hard and traveling so much (just last month, India, China and twice to the US), I decided to make a plan for family travel, which is more fun for him than business travel, of course. Oh, there he is near the top of the mountain. He was expecting an important call from his secretary, who is top-notch. After that, he switched off the phone. My plan included something for everyone. 1)riding trains is fun, and from our Tokyo apartment to the hotel in Shizuoka's Sumata-kyo, we rode a subway, then a shinkansen (bullet train) then a local train, then a steam locomotive, and finally a bus. 2) Hiking is fun for everyone, and we got plenty of that. 3)Now, its the best season for viewing the Fall colors in the mountains, and Martin had a chance to indulge in his photography hobby. 4) I got to eat wonderful Japanese food and 5) Everyone enjoyed the onsen three times! Everything turned out very well.

Later, I'll put some photos of the trains and the food, (not the onsen, sorry) but this story is about the hike. Asahi Gaku (means Morning Sun Peak) is tall and very steep. The terrain is difficult to walk on, with slippery wet leaves, twisty tree roots and rocks, and the weather was cold and mostly cloudy. It was very challenging. Sometimes it was foggy, drizzly, or even raining. But Martin planned ahead and brought raincoats for everyone so it was okay. While we were on the mountain we came close to a bear. We didn't see it, but we heard it moving away from us, no question. It took us 3 hours to reach the summit and another two and a half to get back down. Muscles were sore, but everyone was fine. The onsen felt so good after that, I went in before dinner and after. So my Thanksgiving is for this family and these good times.
